About Us
Life will only change when you become more committed to your dreams than you are to your comfort zone.
When energy is coming from the sun then why are we digging the earth.
We are the “Elite Energists" and our topic is Saving Energy at school. “A thing which burns never returns”. This thought gives an ideal example with the present situation. If we burn our resources they will become extinct. It is to be realized that energy on Earth is limited and hence should be used wisely because it takes a lot of time to regenerate. For our lifestyle, energy plays a very important role. The rate of usage of energy gets faster day by day. We need to be concerned with the amount of energy used by this generation and this thought certainly increases the reason to save energy. We as students need to be more concerned with this topic and so we have decided to start this from our own school.

Our main objective is to achieve our goals by either using energy more efficiently or by reducing the amount of service usage.

Our tagline is “Think Solar” because this motivates us to concentrate on how solar energy is important and profitable for our generation.
We have named our group as the “Elite Energists” as it boosts up energy within ourselves and we are now determined to save energy in all the ways we can and we are the one who are responsible to bring our efforts to save this for our upcoming generations.
Our theme is “Saving Energy at School” and we shall work our fingers to the bone until this awareness arouses everyone.

MAIN RESEARCH topic
- ENERGY is the quantitative property that must be transferred to an object in order to perform work on, or to heat, the object. The SI unit of energy is joule(J) and its CGS unit is erg; where IJ=107 erg and 1 erg=10-7 J.
- POWER is the amount of energy transferred or converted per unit time. The SI unit of power is watt(W).

interviews
We had taken the interview of Mr. Ganesh Naidu and he helped us a lot with informing us about how energy can be saved in our school in the most effective way.
Name of the Interviewee: Mr. Ganesh Naidu (Administrative officer of our School)
Name of the Interviewer: Miss Jiya Rathore (Leader Of the Group)

1.How can energy be saved in the school in the most effective way?
In the most effective manner, we can save energy by switching off all the electrical appliances when not in use and also by recycling waste items.
2. Does our school have a policy to save electricity? Explain.
Yes, we do have a policy, and as per the policy all the students, teachers and staff should switch off all the switches after use.
3.How does our school save energy at the present moment?
At the present moment, school saves energy in many ways, a few being, following the school policy and by the installation of a solar plant on our rooftop. The Solar panels play a major role in saving energy at school as considering the present situation natural sources must be put to use instead of non-renewable resources.
4.Are students expected to implement any of such measures?
Yes, students are definitely expected to follow the guidelines of the school towards saving energy by switching off all the electrical appliances when not in use and also promoting and using recycling waste items. Each classroom has a respective monitor in-charge appointed to switch off the electrical appliances when not in use.
5.What are the three aspects that you think should be included in our school policy in order to save energy?
Though we follow and must have included a lot of guidelines in the policy, I would still highlight a few, like all staff and students are expected to be energy savers and as well as energy consumers, secondly, encourage and promote recycling and usage of energy efficiently and taking advantage of natural light.

2.What are the steps taken to save electricity in the classroom? LED lights are the most used electricity appliance's in society. They are also found in classrooms, offices, etc. Having electricity in a classroom is necessary but not required to be used 24/7. To save electricity I suggest that we make sure to open the curtains throughout the classes to reduce the use of electricity during the day. Sunlight provided by the sun can be a great source of light. We can also open the windows to receive fresh air and not use the fan for a long time. In case of any use of electricity, we have to make sure to turn the electric appliances off after the usage. Unnecessary use of electricity should be avoided. We can also use electricity using different sources, or conductors of energy such as wind energy, solar energy, etc. |

3.What all steps do you think must be added or be followed in saving electricity at school? I feel saving electricity is very important and so I would like to make changes in saving electricity at school by the following steps-: 1. If the weather is good and we have sufficient sunlight we should keep the windows of the class open which will ultimately reduce the amount of electricity consumed by bulbs and fans 2. We should have LED bulbs in place of normal bulbs and we should encourage the use of solar energy to generate electricity. |
4.What steps are taken in our school when we don’t have electricity? We take the following steps: 1. Turn off lights of empty rooms 2. Unplug screens from the socket when not in use 3. Use natural energy efficient lights 4. Open windows and use sunlight instead of switching on lights 5. Assigning classroom jobs like a person who will switch off lights and fans, a person who will switch off monitors 6. Use power-saving lights and bulbs instead of traditional bulbs 7. Practice using analogue clock instead of digital ones 8. Replace more power consuming monitors with less power consuming monitors. |

5. How does nature provide us with sources that can help in reducing excessive use of energy in schools where a lot of electricity is required? We can take help from Nature in the following ways: 1. Adding skylights in corridors and washrooms and other common areas. These can allow filtered light to enter from above, taking advantage of solar energy. 2. Solar energy can also be used for hot water heating and solar cooling as an alternative for Air Conditioners and Hot water tankers(Boilers). 3. Install saving energy power strips. We can keep classroom computers and other devices plugged into power strips to help mitigate their stand by power usage. 4. Along with the rain and snow, sunlight causes plants to grow. The organic matter that makes up those plants is known as biomass. Biomass can be used to produce electricity, transportation fuels, or chemicals. The use of biomass for any of these purposes is called bioenergy. 5. When the evaporated water vapor turns into rain or snow and flows downhill into rivers or streams, its energy can be captured using hydroelectric power. |

Video conference 01 (02/11/2020)
We were successful in conducting the first video conference with our partner school. We got to know each other and inspite of the current situation we were able to introduce ourselves and adjust according to the present state on a virtual platform. It helped us in understanding views on different aspects by exchanging ideas. We had an incredibly interactive and informative session.
Video Conference 02 (01/02/2021)
We had luckily conducted our second video conference with the help of zoom platform on 1.02.2021. It was indeed an interactive session where we were able to exchange the questions and got to know answers to most of them.We shared a great time and were able to learn more about both of ours project.
Here are the pictures of the Second Video Conference -

Similarities
1. Both of us have well introduced our groups on the weebly page.
2. Both of our schools have solar panels setup on the roofs of the building to make use of the natural energy of the sun.
3. We all save energy at the school premises by switching off the unused gadgets and devices.
4. Both of our groups had a positive view on saving energy.

Differences
1. They have not taken the interview of any board members nor have attached any images on the weebly which are related to the topic which has been done by our group in a systematic order.
2. Their school has light sensors while we do not have such instruments instead, we have solar panels.
3. They do not have any particular school policy in accordance to save energy while our school
has implemented rules and regulations under our school policy which must be followed by both the staff and the students.

Reflection
In a year like 2020 where things went haywire and situations did not seem to work normally, we were still able to exchange our ideas and views through the EUMIND project. It has been a totally new and wonderful experience to work with a new bunch of people from across the country and
understand the various plans and measures which are taken up by their group in order to find solutions for different problems. Our topic “Saving energy at school” has given us a clear view of how energy is an integral part of our life and must be saved efficiently for future purposes. Working
in teams and groups made us understand the importance of teamwork and coordination. Leading the group through the ups and downs to complete project tasks has been marvelous.
This project of Eumind through all the roller coasters will always be a memorable and worth learning journey.
